Just The Way You Are popularized by Billy Joel became a hit in the 1970's which topped the billboard charts. The song even won a Grammy in 1987 as the Album of the Year and Record of the Year. From the time it hit the airwaves up until the present, the song is still widely used on wedding receptions because of the romantic message it conveys.

Billy Joel originally wrote the song as a birthday gift for his first wife Elizabeth Weber. Since then, different versions of the song were performed by well known singers in the music industry such as Diana Krall, Barry White, Frank Sinatra and Shirley Bassey.

The reason why this song is so popular on wedding events is because the lyrics says it all. It best describes what love is - unpretentious, and real inspite of flaws. If you look at the lyrics closely, you would actually see that it's a marriage vow. A vow to "take the good times and take the bad times" and "will not leave each other in times of trouble". It also tells the other person that he or she doesn't have to impress his or her partner. Simplicity and honesty is the key to a successful marriage.

I have attended several wedding ceremonies and whenever this song played you can really tell that love is in the air not just for the newly-wedded couple but for the couples who are attending the ceremony.

Aside from wedding receptions, Just The Way You Are are also popular among couples who are renewing their vows as husband and wife. I particularly like to see married couples dancing when the song is played because that's when it becomes evident that in spite of so many years of marriage, and in spite of the each other flaws these couple still loves each other.
